PHILOSOPHY

The story of our stones is as important as the jewellery itself. Everything we make is done with the planet and people in mind.

GEMSTONE SOURCING

Sourcing gemstones presents a complex challenge for all jewellers due to the historical disconnect between jewellers and mines. We are dedicated to changing this by building strong relationships with suppliers, enhancing the traceability of our stones, and educating our community.

OUR SAPPHIRES

Sapphires are highly valuable gemstones known for their exceptional durability, making them a popular choice for daily wear and engagement rings. While sapphires are commonly associated with their striking blue colour, they are also available in a range of other beautiful hues, including green, yellow, and pink. Similar to other coloured gemstones, there is no set standard for grading their colour. A clear, consistent colour is considered the most desirable quality in a sapphire, but ultimately, the most important factor is whether the colour appeals to you. Like diamonds, sapphires can have inclusions, which are tiny internal crystals formed during their creation. The clarity of sapphires is assessed by the naked eye, and finding sapphires without inclusions is rare. We source our emeralds from countries including Brazil, Colombia, and Zambia.

OUR EMERALDS

Emeralds are a popular choice for jewellery, and we have created some stunning pieces using this stone. However, they are notoriously fragile and much less durable than other precious stones such as sapphire and diamond. This is caused by the internal inclusions that are common within emeralds. Due to their plant-like appearance, these inclusions, known as an emerald's "jardin," make the stone prone to chipping and breaking. It is a higher-maintenance gemstone that requires a little more care and attention. We source our emeralds from countries including Brazil, Colombia, and Zambia.

OUR RUBYS

"The king of precious stones," ruby, is the rarest and most expensive gemstone. The most desirable colour is a vibrant red. Rubies and sapphires are the same mineral, corundum, but it's the trace element of chromium that gives ruby its recognizable red colour. The difference in the saturation of colour helps to determine whether a stone is regarded as a ruby or a pink sapphire. Like sapphires, rubies are the second hardest gemstones after diamonds, and ruby is an excellent choice for engagement rings, especially as the vivid red symbolizes love and passion. We source our rubies from countries such as Mozambique and Vietnam.
